| About Our GED Program… |
| |
|
Q: What is a GED? GED stands for General Education Development. A GED is a high school equivalency degree recognized by employers and most colleges nationwide. To obtain a GED, a student prepares for and then completes separate tests in Reading, Writing, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics. Our employment-based GED program also offers basic training in computer skills and career exploration. |
| |
|
Q: How will getting a GED help me? A GED is now a minimum qualification for most jobs. In addition, a GED will allow you to command a higher salary and will prepare you for additional education, training, and employment. All students who complete their GED in our program receive a waiver for one (1) term of free tuition at Portland Community College. |

GED classes meet at PCC Metro Workforce Network, 5600

|
Q: How do I sign up for these classes?
You have two options:

You must also attend the GED Orientation, held on Wednesdays at 10:00 am, in room 204 at PCC Metro Workforce Network, 5600 N.E. 42nd, before being admitted to the GED preparation class.
- Saturday classes are free and open to the public. Anyone over 18 years of age is welcome to attend. Unlike the weekly classes, you do not need a referral for Saturday classes and you are not required to attend an orientation.
