  A Profitable Partnership
  WIA reimburses employers up to 50% of a trainee's wages during the period of time required for proficiency (six months or less) in the occupation. We also provide:

  • Skills Assessment
  • Applicant Screening
  • Referral of qualified applicants

  • The basic requirements are that the businesses have Worker's Compensation Insurance, an Oregon Unemployment Insurance number or proof of exemption, and Internal Revenue Services (IRS) identification number.
        WIA, the Workforce Investment Act, is a federally funded program established to increase skills for   participation in the labor force by providing job training and other services that will result in increase   employment and earnings and increased educational and occupational skills. Work Systems Inc.   administers WIA Programs throughout Multnomah and Washington Counties contracting with Portland Community College Workforce Network. The Workforce Development Program offers training and services to individuals who need to prepare for entry, upgrade or reentry into the work force.
      With the help of the WIA OJT program, you can hire eligible individuals you will train to meet your company's needs. The trainee learns your procedures and requirements using tools and equipment required on the job. The employee will learn the job while engaged in productive work. In addition, you retain the right to hire and fire.
